One week at a time, Duke Diet & Fitness Center has helped more than 50,000 people take their lives back. They’ve come here to lose weight, adopt a healthier lifestyle and take control of obesity-related conditions such as diabetes and arthritis.
Our most successful program is also our most comprehensive—featuring four entirely different weeks of workshops, classes, experiences and exercise sessions. It gives you more insights on living a healthier life; more time with medical, nutrition, behavioral and fitness experts; time to become comfortable with lifestyle changes you’ll continue at home; and actually allows you to start seeing the health benefits before the end of your stay. Recommended for those with more than 30 or 40 pounds to lose, it includes:
Our two-and three-week programs offer many of the same elements as our four-week program, in a condensed format. Due to the shorter timeframes, these programs focus more on education than experience. They include:
Our one-week program is a great start on the path to better health. If you have less than 30 pounds to lose, or simply can’t make the time commitment, this program is an efficient way to begin addressing the risks of excess weight and insufficient physical activity. It will provide:
Complete four weeks at Duke Diet & Fitness Center within two years and you can access our Graduate Programs. Return for a week or two to reinvigorate your commitment to better health, and to learn the latest in weight loss and lifestyle strategies. This is key, because our approach is informed by the research at Duke Medicine, our methods are constantly being refined. This program includes:
If you would like to stay longer than the four-week program, Duke Diet & Fitness Center offers extended stays on a weekly basis for up to a total three-month stay. This option is best suited for clients who:
Participants can stay for up to 12 weeks while maintaining close contact with the professional staff. We do not often encourage stays beyond 12 weeks, since it is beneficial for clients to practice the new skills at home. We consider such requests on a case-by-case basis.
Family and close friends are invaluable in supporting you in lifestyle changes—especially when they learn the same strategies you learn at Duke Diet & Fitness Center. We have a program for that! It educates those who don’t struggle with weight themselves how best to support clients participating in our full program, and includes:
Studies show that weight-loss programs with “repeated interventions” are more successful. So to help you succeed after your stay at Duke Diet & Fitness Center, we encourage you to stay in touch with:
