Duke Diet and Fitness Center - Four Week Weight Loss Program

Our most popular weight loss program is also our most comprehensive—featuring four entirely different weeks of workshops, classes, experiences and exercise sessions. It gives you more insights on living a healthier life; more time with medical, nutrition, behavioral and fitness experts; time to become comfortable with lifestyle changes you’ll continue at home; and actually allows you to start seeing the health benefits before the end of your stay.

 

Complete medical evaluation, review of your history and a physical

  • Lab tests for cholesterol, triglycerides and blood glucose levels
  • Monitoring of medical conditions that are sensitive to the effects of diet and exercise such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol
  • Progress reviews and treatment adjustments to support your participation in the program and help meet your weight-loss goals
  • If necessary, collaboration with consulting cardiologists and other specialists within the Duke University Health System
  • A full report of our findings and recommendations for your primary care physician, for continued progress at home

Individual consultations with behavioral health, fitness, and nutrition staff, with recommendations for a plan you can follow at home

 

Core classes that introduce you to weight control and lifestyle-change strategies

 

Daily fitness classes and access to our fitness facilities, including treadmills, stationary bikes, steppers, rowing machines, elliptical trainers, weight circuit and free weights, Pilates equipment, and a large indoor saltwater pool

 

A complimentary personal training session

 

The opportunity to arrange for an extended stay, beyond four weeks, to address more complex medical and obesity issues.

 

The program includes three gourmet meals and snacks daily on weekdays and 2 gourmet meals and snacks daily on weekends. Hunger is never an issue. In fact, many of our guests say they are eating more than they ever have, and losing weight while doing it.
